Virtual event quality (E-VENTQUAL) scale is being developed

12 November 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic imposed the adaptation of virtual events across all industries around the world. Virtual events increased 1000% since the start of the pandemic. Many face-to-face events, conferences, shows, and other meetings were converted to virtual events with the help of emerging virtual meeting tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet. The global virtual event market is around 80 billion dollars. The surge of virtual events in people’s daily routines created virtual event quality standards and fatigue (V-atigue).

The increased reliance on virtual meetings to conduct education, business and personal communications created a need to measure the quality factors that impact virtual events. There are some studies that tackled the quality factors for events however, there are no studies that focused on solely virtual events.

Dr. Cihan Cobanoglu is in the process of creating a scale for virtual event quality. This scale will be called E-VENTQUAL. The purpose of developing a scale like this is to be able to identify the important underlining factors that impact the quality of a virtual event and behavioral intentions.

Please help this process by examining the components of this scale and give your feedback.
